Tax filing season for 2025 will open on Jan. 27
Taxpayers could be in for a bumpy ride as the new administration and a Republican-controlled Congress move to ax many of the IRS’s new programs.
The 2025 tax filing season will kick off on Jan. 27 amid heightened uncertainty for the IRS and the funding that supports many of its new programs.
The IRS noted on Friday that taxpayers will be able to access dozens of tax forms digitally on their cell phones this filing season. Taxpayers can now get assistance from virtual assistants who will help them with their tax refunds, the agency said.
