Nintendo’s new Switch 2 console to be released in 2025

Nintendo, the prominent gaming company, unveiled its latest console on Thursday, an eagerly awaited announcement that gamers have anticipated since the initial rumors of its release emerged years ago.

The new console, named the Nintendo Switch 2, is set to launch in 2025, according to the company's statement.

In a recently released promotional video, Nintendo presents a larger iteration of the Switch, which bears a resemblance to its predecessor. The video also highlights the redesigned controllers, known as Joy-Cons, which now attach to the sides of the main unit instead of sliding in.

The Nintendo Switch 2 will support exclusive games designed for the new system, in addition to both physical and digital titles from the original Nintendo Switch. However, the company noted that some games from the original Switch may not be fully compatible with the Nintendo Switch 2.

The announcement lacked extensive details regarding the console or a precise release date. Nintendo indicated that further information will be disclosed during its April Nintendo Direct event. Additionally, the Kyoto-based developer plans to organize “Nintendo Switch 2 Experience” events in various countries, allowing players to engage with the new system firsthand.

These events are scheduled to take place in cities such as Los Angeles, New York, London, and Paris starting in April, with ticket registration commencing on Friday, as stated by Nintendo.
