Map of Hurst fire is burning in Southern California

Late on Tuesday evening, a wildfire in Sylmar posed an immediate threat to residential areas and resulted in the closure of the 210 freeway.

The Hurst fire was detected shortly before 10:30 p.m. in the vicinity of Diamond Road, as reported by CalFire. It rapidly consumed 100 acres within the area previously affected by the Saddle Ridge Fire, which scorched 8,799 acres in October 2019, according to Watch Duty, an organization that monitors firefighting activities in real-time.

This incident marked the third major wildfire to affect the region on Tuesday, with other destructive blazes also occurring in Pacific Palisades and near Pasadena.
