Hugh Jackman and Deborra-lee Furness announced their separation in 2023 after 27 years of marriage, while Sutton Foster filed for divorce from Ted Griffin in October.

Recently, Jackman and Foster were seen together, enjoying a relaxed evening filled with laughter during a dinner outing in Santa Monica, California, on January 6. The pair arrived hand in hand, with Jackman, 56, dressed casually in a dark jacket over a grey shirt and white jeans, and Foster, 49, looking elegant in a tan trench coat over an olive dress, following her successful Broadway revival and Los Angeles run of Once Upon a Mattress.

Following the announcement of his split from Furness in September 2023, Jackman appeared cheerful and at ease during the evening with Foster. Foster, a Tony Award-winning actress and singer, initiated her divorce from Griffin after a decade of marriage.

Representatives for both Jackman and Foster did not provide immediate comments regarding their outing.

On January 4, Jackman attended one of the concluding performances of Foster's Once Upon a Mattress at the Ahmanson Theatre in Los Angeles. He was accompanied by Carol Burnett, who originated Foster’s role in the 1959 production. In images shared by DeuxMoi, a joyful Jackman is captured holding his phone towards Burnett, 91, while seated next to her, as the audience turns their attention to the pair during this memorable moment. Burnett responded with a kiss and a wave to the crowd.

Jackman and Foster, who previously starred together in the acclaimed 2022 revival of Music Man, have consistently praised each other and their collaboration on the beloved musical, which was performed on Broadway from December 2021 to January 2023.

During an interview with PEOPLE at the 2024 Drama Desk Awards in June, Foster remarked, "He is one of the most remarkable individuals I have ever met, an extraordinary costar." In a joint appearance on Late Night With Seth Meyers to promote Music Man in May 2022, she expressed, "The show brings so much joy, and I am thoroughly enjoying my time performing alongside him."

Jackman, for his part, acknowledged feeling daunted by Foster's impressive talent and distinguished career. “This is a six-time Tony nominee and a two-time winner. I remember watching her in 'Thoroughly Modern Millie’ when I was quite young. I have followed her entire career," Jackman, a Tony winner himself, stated during their late-night discussion. "It’s truly remarkable."

Both actors have recently experienced the end of their respective marriages. Foster initiated divorce proceedings from Griffin, 54, a screenwriter, in the New York County Supreme Court on October 22, as indicated by court documents reviewed by PEOPLE.

Jackman and Furness, 69, who first met while working on the Australian TV series Correlli and married on April 11, 1996, announced their separation in September 2023.

At that time, the former couple released a joint statement to PEOPLE, stating, "We have been fortunate to share nearly three decades together as husband and wife in a loving marriage. Our paths are now diverging, and we have chosen to separate in order to focus on our individual growth."

They further emphasized, "Our family has always been and will continue to be our top priority. We approach this new chapter with gratitude, love, and kindness. We sincerely appreciate your understanding and respect for our privacy as we navigate this transition in our lives."

Looking ahead, Jackman is set to return to the stage for a series of live concerts at Radio City Music Hall. Titled "From New York, with Love," these performances will commence on January 24 and continue throughout 2025.
